France’s space agency is opening its “X-Files” to the public, putting years of UFO research and tens of thousands of documents on the Web. The first batch went up Thursday, and the site got so much traffic that it has been difficult to access since, said the space agency, known by its French initials CNES

Religious overload in Mississauga?

March 17, 2007 on 1:38 am | In Religion, Politics, News | No Comments

Editorial from The Mississauga News, February 14 edition. Brian Stavert - Mississauga

As a humanist I support the Ministry of Transportation’s decision not to allow the EH.MEN2U licence plate (The News, Feb. 14 edition).

We don’t need people’s religion pushed in our faces. I can hardly turn on my TV any time of day or any day of the week without finding religious programming or infomercials, programs that either solicit cash in exchange for salvation, or dispense fear, guilt, shame or in other ways that demean or belittle humanity or sell “miracle water” of dubious value.

March 15, 2007 on 11:57 pm | In Paranormal, News | No Comments

In January, James Randi secured a mystery item in a specially designated locker in his Florida office, and challenged clairvoyants everywhere to use their remote viewing skills to divine its nature and claim a million dollar prize.

But for perhaps the first time in the history of the supernatural challenges issued by the 79-year-old skeptic, there was a winner of sorts. Cryptographer Matt Blaze and a colleague correctly identified the contents of Randi’s black box from a thousand miles away, using only the powers of their minds.
